Award-winning, classically trained singer, pianist and actor with virtuoso chops and an impressive Broadway pedigree, Luba Mason has led a diverse career gracing the stages of major music venues in the US and abroad to Broadway Theaters to a seamless segue to the Hollywood scene. Highlights in NYC and the US include Jazz at Lincoln Center w/Wynton Marsalis and his JALC orchestra and her husband Ruben Blades, Radio City Music Hall w/ Paul Simon, Rose Hall, Dizzy’s Coca Cola, Catalina Bar & Grill, Yoshi’s, Blue Note and many others. This native New Yorker born in Queens and a first generation Slovak-American has also toured abroad as a featured performer at the Panama Jazz Festival opening for Wayne Shorter, Danilo Perez and Chucho Valdez, headlined the Bratislava Jazz Days, Cuba’s 40th International Music Festival and Costa Rica’s International Music Festival.
Recipient of the 2019 Bistro Award for Outstanding Vocalist, Luba has released four critically acclaimed solo albums. MIXTURA® (Kobalt Music) trademarked a new musical format, KRAZY LOVE (Sunnyside Records) debuted her impressive song-writing skills, COLLAGE (PS Classics) a beautiful marriage of jazz, Latin, pop and poetry, and her latest TRIANGLE, released Oct. 2020 on Blue Canoe Records, presented an unprecedented line-up of vibes (Joe Locke), bass (James Genus), and voice (Luba Mason) recorded live and filmed before an intimate audience at the legendary Power Station Studios co-produced by Luba and Renato Neto, long-time keyboardist with Prince. Featured on these recordings are collaborations with such esteemed musicians as Al Jarreau, Hubert Laws, Jimmy Haslip, Randy Brecker & Dori Caymmi.
A graduate of New York University’s Tisch SOA (Drama), Luba made her roots on the Broadway stage having starred in 9 Broadway shows including 2020’s GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY, a Conor McPherson Broadway musical based on the songs of Bob Dylan that achieved critical acclaim before going on hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic, CHICAGO, JEKYLL & HYDE and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS..., among others. Some featured dramatic roles on TV include: FOREVER, PERSON OF INTEREST, and LAW & ORDER. Luba is a two-time nominee for the Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Awards for “Best Featured Actress In A Musical.”
