Three-time Emmy-nominated composer/pianist Steve Sandberg plays original music that blends classical, world music, and jazz with the excitement of virtuosic improvisation. He has toured internationally with Bebel Gilberto, David Byrne, Ruben Blades, Mario Rivera, and Dr. L. Subramaniam. He has conducted and arranged on Broadway and for many regional and Off-Broadway theatres, including the New York Shakespeare Festival. Most recently, he was nominated for three Emmy Awards for his work as musical director and composer for Nickelodeon’s “Dora the Explorer” and “Go, Diego, Go!” He leads the Steve Sandberg Quartet featuring Zach Brock, which has appeared at Birdland, Symphony Space, Sidedoor Jazz, Miller Symphony Hall, and the DiMenna Center; and teaches online from his private studio in the Upper West Side (www.stevesandbergmusic.com) . Tonight he will play for the first time with Boris Kozlov and Rudy Royston in a program of originals and compositions by Maurice Ravel, Wayne Shorter, Duke Ellington, Chick Corea and others.

Boris Koslov
Boris Koslov has been on the New York and International Jazz scene for the past 35 years. In addition to his own projects and co-leading Opus 5, he has served as bassist, arranger and musical director for the Mingus Big Band and Mingus Dynasty for the past 22 years. Boris has also been a first-call bassist for Michael Brecker, Lew Tabackin, Ray Barretto, Jean-Michel Pilc and many other major artists.

Rudy Royston
First-call drummer Rudy Royston (Bill Frisell, JD Allen, Dave Douglas) has honed a thoroughly engaging voice as a composer and bandleader. His releases include his compelling debut '303' (2014), the raw and bracing trio follow-up 'Rise of Orion' (2016) and the chamber quintet release 'Flatbed Buggy' (2018).
