Steve Sandberg Trio with Michael O'Brien and Kirk Driscoll

Three-time Emmy-nominated composer/pianist Steve Sandberg plays original music that blends classical, world music, and jazz with the excitement of virtuosic improvisation. He has toured internationally with Bebel Gilberto, Dr. L. Subramaniam, David Byrne, Ruben Blades, Mario Rivera, and Tito Puente.  He has conducted and arranged on Broadway and for many regional and Off-Broadway theatres, including the New York Shakespeare Festival. Most recently, he was nominated for three Emmy Awards for his work as musical director and composer for Nickelodeon’s “Dora the Explorer” and “Go, Diego, Go!” He leads the Steve Sandberg Quartet which has appeared at Birdland, Symphony Space, Sidedoor Jazz, Miller Symphony Hall’s Upstairs Jazz, and the DiMenna Center; and teaches in his private studio in the Upper West Side and at the 92nd Street Y. For his third concert at Soapbox Gallery, he will play originals and tunes by Monk, Wayne Shorter and others with bassist Michael O'Brien and drummer Kirk Driscoll.
