On December 16, we will premiere the short documentary "The Other Side of the Sea", about Ukrainian and Syrian New Yorkers using art, music, and direct action to bring people together instead of isolating cultures. After the film will be a concert with featured Ukrainian pianist Alex Pryrodny, who uses the techniques of improvisation derived from a lifelong study of classical, jazz and world music, accompanied by Taiwanese performance artist Julia Hsia. We will host a Q&A with the filmmakers, subjects and members of Razom for Ukraine, a non-profit organization that seeks to amplify voices from Ukraine. A reception will include dessert from Veselka, a landmark Ukrainian restaurant in the East Village.
