Last days to submit an application!

We are currently seeking artists for our Fall 2013 Exhibition. Visual arts, installations, and performance works will be considered. We are seeking work that questions the human identity, and the future of Man in a context of increasing integration between humans and machines, and of constant progress of science and technology.

Soapbox Gallery continues the tradition of the humble yet mighty soapbox by offering a box-shaped window space for artists to express themselves publicly to a large and diverse audience all year round. Our main focus is on works that tackle issues of our world, and that help ask questions about who we are, where we live, what we do, and why we do it, not only as New Yorkers or even as Americans, but also more generally as humans in the 21st Century. Four times a year, we curate exhibitions that take place not only in the window space, but also in a larger space behind the window for a three-week period. During this time, Soapbox Gallery opens Thu-Sun from 2pm to 6pm.

To submit your application for the fall exhibition, please write to before April 30, 2013 and include:

  • A short description of the submitted work or body of work (400 words max)
  • A short paragraph stating how you think this work is related to the theme of the exhibition
  • Your curriculum and a short bio
  • Samples of the proposed work. We accept JPEG images, and .mpeg and .avi video files. Links to video platforms are also accepted.
  • A link to your website if applicable
  • Your contact information (email and phone number)

Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of curators and artists. Applicants will be contacted upon reception of their application, and after April 30th once the panel has reviewed all applications. Please email any questions to
