Canadian born, Brooklyn based guitarist and composer David Blake performs original music in a contemporary post-bop style. Raised in Vancouver, Canada, David spent most of his career performing with West Coast greats such as Brad Turner, Jaclyn Guillou, Jodi Proznick, Cory Weeds and Steve Kaldestad. In 2022 David released his album “Fun House”, thanks to funding from the Canada Council for the Arts, which was released on CellarLive. Since moving to Brooklyn in 2021, David has found a home performing with many of the talented young musicians in New York City. In 2023, David released “Trio” featuring world renowned musicians Drew Gress (Fred Hersch, Ravi Coltrane) on double bass and Ari Hoenig (Kenny Werner, Jean-Michel Pilc) on drums. David’s Brooklyn based trio includes two wonderful musicians, bassist Warren Louie and drummer Jonas Esser. This concert will feature new compositions written for this ensemble, as well as a few pieces from “Fun House” and “Trio”.
