Jae Kyo Han is a pianist, piano teacher, resident piano technician at the Soapbox Gallery and founder of A4 Music Inc. He grew up listening to his sisters play the piano, and eventually began lessons when he was 4. Early on he began to compete, receiving top prizes in several competitions such as NEPTA, MMTA and was a finalist in the 14th Chiang Wen-Yeh International Young Artist Piano Competition. He was also twice selected to perform in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, both times as a winner of the American Fine Arts Festival. Jae has also participated in piano festivals in New York City (The Beethoven Institute, IKIF), Austria (Mozarteum International Summer Academy), and England (Oxford Philomusica).
After receiving his bachelor’s in music and philosophy, Jae moved to New York City to pursue further musical studies. He received a master’s in classical piano performance from Mannes College for Music and a Professional Studies degree from Manhattan School of Music. Since then, Jae discovered a deep passion for teaching and established his studio in New York City. Eventually he founded A4 Music Inc, an online music school where he now reaches students across the entire country. Over the years, his interests in the piano grew beyond performance and education, developing into a desire to learn how the piano works. So he began an apprenticeship as a piano technician. After a couple years he started piano tuning on his own, but his desire to go deeper into the field was still there. To satisfy that curiosity, Jae started working at PianoWorks, a Brooklyn-based piano rebuilding workshop founded by James Carney.
