Sherman brings a deeply rooted post bop approach to a program of originals and standards, which convincingly carry on the art form with a potent level of invigorating musicianship. His music is relentlessly energetic, hard charging, and brimming with incredible improvisations from his deeply rooted skillset. In addition to the soon the release recording “A Bright Light”, Sherman has recorded 19 CD’s as a leader, and over 150 CD’s as a sideman. His last recording “My Other Voice” was a huge success over 6.2 million streams on Spotify with Sherman playing piano only on this recording. Mark’s book “The Poetic Language Of Jazz Improvisation” is a strong base for the intermediate, and advanced jazz musician with half the book dedicated to the music business do’s and don’ts navigating the business for success. In 2011 he was given the honor of representing the United States on the US State Department /Jazz Ambassadors tour abroad with over 30 concerts and workshops in Southeast Asia. He continues to carry on the jazz tradition through playing and education on piano/vibes and drums as an 14 year professor of jazz studies at the Juilliard Jazz program..
