Marta Sanchez and Caleb Curtis duo Live Streaming

Marta and Caleb will play a repertoire of selected standards with an open approach.

 Marta’s main project has released three albums: “Partenika” (2015), “Danza imposible” (2017), and “El Rayo de Luz” (2019). ”Partenika” received great reviews from The New York Times, Downbeat, All Music, All About Jazz, and many more. The recording was selected by The New York Times as one of the 10 best albums of 2015, and it was also included on the lists of the best of the year by the Jazz Journalist Association, Downbeat and All Music. “Danza Imposible” was highly praised in the program “Fresh Air”, it got 4 stars from DownBeat, got reviewed at The New York TImes, on Nate Chinen’s program at WBGO, etc.. “El Rayo de Luz” was also included in the The NewYork Times Best 10 jazz albums of 2019, it was the editor’s pick on Downbeat, got a four stars review also in Downbeat, it was featured on WBGO’s program “The Checkout” and a long etc. and After “Danza Imposible”, Marta’s music has been the subject of articles in publications including Jazziz and The New York Times . Downbeat also interviewed her. 
She also released “La Espiral Amarilla” (2011) and Lunas, Soles y Elefantes (2008) and the work 49 Riiiing with D’Free Qi.. As a sideman she has played in “Hazel” (WWO), “Matterhorn” (John Blevins), “Carry My Heart”(Indra Rios), “Deluxe” (Crooked Trio), “Mediterraciones”, “Satierismos”, (Afrodisian Orchestra), “Lineas Paralelas” (Talento Big Band), among others.

She has toured the USA, Europe, South America and Central America, performing at festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival, Eurojazz in Mexico City, Eurojazz in Athens, Jazz Festival Vitoria Gasteiz, Winter Jazz Festival, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santiago de Chile, Madrid Jazz Festival, and many others.

In 2017 she received the prestigious grant for a residency from the MacDowell Colony. In 2011, she was awarded a Fulbright

Brooklyn, NY based GRAMMY nominated saxophonist Caleb Wheeler Curtis “lives at the junction of rigorous preparation and willingness to explore.” (Jazz Speaks) His playing and compositions are informed by a constant searching, at times introspective, brash and melodic. In addition to band-leading, Caleb is a core member of Walking Distance (Sunnyside Records), Orrin Evans & The Captain Black Big Band (Smoke Sessions Records), Josh Lawrence & Triptych (Posi-Tone Records), Curtis + Garabedian + Sperrazza (Outside In Music), and the Fat Cat Big Band. His upcoming album, Ain't No Storm, will be released on Imani Records this fall, 2020.
