Lisa Hoppe / Santiago Leibson Duo 'Couples in Harmony'

Lisa Hoppe (*1988 near Bremen, Germany) is a double bassist, composer, improvisor, band-leader and educator. Her musical works contain a variety of genres and non-genres: Ranging between modern chamber music, free improvisation and avant-garde electro, she is always striving to put the melodic qualities of the double bass into contemporary context. She studied bass and composition in Bremen (GER) and Bern (CH) and currently divides her time between Brooklyn, New York City, and Hamburg, Germany.

In 2018 Lisa Hoppe formed her own project, the multi-national ensemble Lisa Hoppe’s Third Reality (USA/ISR/GER), which debut release The Mighty Unlikely was included in the Best Of 2019 list of The New York City Jazz Record.

Santiago Leibson is a Brooklyn based, Argentinian born jazz pianist and composer. His music is situated in the frontier of jazz, improvised music, classical and contemporary music. As a bandleader, he has released four records: Amon (2014), Pendular (2015), Out of Orden (2016) and Episodes (2018). JazzTrail says about his last release: “Episodes is a swinging album with abundant evocations of past grandeur. Thence, the trio of performers lay bare their solid command of time and space to create new narratives”.

As an active member of the NY music scene, he has worked with artists such as Tony Malaby, Guillermo Klein, Michael Attias, Francisco Mela, Sean Conly, Gerald Cleaver, Matt Pavolka, Mark Ferber, Oscar Noriega, Drew Gress, Billy Drummond, Jeff Hirshfield, Michael Formanek, Massa Kamaguchi and Cameron Brown.
